Butt welding is the most versatile and popular to create permanent connections.
The strength of butt welds is not inferior to the strength of the neighboring areas, and welded pipe for tightness, flexibility and reliability is no different from the whole pipe.

The butt welding method is used for connecting pipes having a diameter greater than 50 mm and the wall thickness of more than 5 mm. The basis of this method consists of heat welding the end parts of the pipes in contact with the heating element (plate) to the desired viscosity of polyethylene, in which it is possible to firmly bond the melt parts at the molecular level.


The butt joint is performed in the following sequence:

• Installation of welded pipes’ ends in the welding machine, their alignment and fixation;

• Cleaning and machining of the ends using the down ender;

• Setting a mirror between the welded ends, warming up and melting the ends pressed to the device;

• Removing the mirror from the working area;

• Pressing the melted ends to each other with a certain force and keeping them under pressure prior to cooling the joint.
